YOU CAN BE
ABSOLUTELY
SURE
OF
GOING
TO HEAVEN!
HERE'S HOW!

DR. CEFERINO D. VILLEGAS

DO YOU WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN?

Of course everybody does! Who wants to go to Hell?

We often hear that no one can be sure of going to Heaven. This is not so. The Bible teaches that we can be absolutely sure of going to Heaven!

The following passages from the Bible will show us clearly that we can be sure indeed !

THE DESCRIPTION OF HEAVEN

Heaven

**********************************************************

Q. What will life be in heaven?

Q. How will Heaven look like?

Q. Who will be permitted to enter heaven?

**********************************************************

Q. What will life be in Heaven?

A. Heaven will be a place where there will be no more death, sorrow, crying, or pain forever.

"I heard a loud shout from the throne saying, "Look, the home of God is now among men, and he will live with them and they will be his people; yes, God himself will be among them. HE WILL WIPE A WAY ALL TEARS FROM THEIR EYES, AND THERE WILL BE NO MORE DEATH, NOR SORROW, NOR CRYING, NOR PAIN. ALL OF THAT HAS GONE GONE FOREVER." - Revelation 21: 3-5 LB

**********************************************************

Q. How will Heaven look like?

A. Heaven will be in the form of a cube, 1,500 miles (2,413.5 kilometers) each way, pure transparent gold like glass. There will be no need of the sun or moon to light it as the glory of God and His Son will be its light.

"When he measured it, he found it was a square as wide as it was long; in fact IT WAS IN THE FORM OF A CUBE, for its height was exactly the same as its other dimensions- 1,500 miles each way. Then he measured the thickness of the walls and found them to be 216 feet across ...

THE CITY ITSELF WAS PURE TRANSPARENT GOLD LIKE GLASS! The walls was made of jasper, and was built on twelve layers of foundation stones inlaid with gems...The twelve gates were made of pearls -each from a single pearl! AND THE MAIN STREET WAS PURE, TRANSPARENT GOLD, LIKE GLASS.

No temple could be seen in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb were worshipped in it everywhere. AND THE CITY HAS NO NEED OF SUN OR MOON TO LIGHT IT, FOR THE GLORY OF GOD AND OF THE LAMB ILLUMINATE IT." - Revelation 21: 16-24 LB

**********************************************************

Q. Who will be permitted to enter Heaven?

A. Only those whose names are written in the Book of Life will be permitted to enter Heaven.

"Its gates never close; they stay open all day - and there is no night! And the glory and honor of all the nations shall be brought into it. NOTHING EVIL WILL BE PERMITTED IN IT - no one immoral or dishonest - BUT ONLY THOSE WHOSE NAMES ARE WRITTEN IN THE LAMB'S BOOK OF LIFE. " - Revelation 21: 25-27 LB

THE PREPARATION AND PROMISED RETURN OF JESUS

welcome

**********************************************************

Q.What is Jesus doing for those bound for Heaven??

Q. When will the promised return of Jesus be?

Q. Is Jesus slow about His promised return?

**********************************************************

Q. What is Jesus doing for those bound for Heaven?

A. Jesus is making preparations where His Father lives and when everything is ready He will come and get those bound for Heaven to be with Him forever.

Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled. You are trusting God, now trust in me. There are many homes up there where my Father lives, and I AM GOING TO PREPARE THEM FOR YOUR COMING. WHEN EVERYTHING IS READY, THEN I WILL COME AND GET YOU, SO THAT YOU CAN ALWAYS BE WITH ME WHERE I AM. If this weren't so, I would tell you plainly." John 14: 1-3 LB

**********************************************************

Q. When will the promised return of Jesus be?

A. No one knows about the exact date and hour, not even Jesus himself, but only the Father.

Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will dis- appear, but my words remain forever. BUT NO ONE KNOWS THE DATE AND HOUR WHEN THE END WILL BE - not even the angels. NO, NOR EVEN GOD'S SON. ONLY THE FATHER KNOWS.

The world will be at ease - banquets and parties and weddings -just as it was in Noah's time before the sudden coming of the flood; people wouldn't believe what was going to happen until the flood actually arrived and took them all away. So shall my coming be.

Two men will be working together in the fields, and one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be going about their household tasks; one will be taken, the other left.

So be prepared, for you don't know what day your Lord is coming." - Matthew 24: 36-42 LB

**********************************************************

Q. Is Jesus slow about His promised return?

A. No, He is not willing that any should perish and He is giving more time for sinners to repent.

HE ISN'T REALLY BEING SLOW ABOUT HIS PROMISED RETURN, even though it sometimes seems that way. But He is waiting for the good reason that HE IS NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, AND HE IS GIVING MORE TIME FOR SINNERS TO REPENT. - 2 Peter 3: 9 LB

Explanatory Note: "God's waiting is redemptive in its purpose; His basic will is that all might turn from their sin unto Him " (C. F: Pfelffer and E. F. Harrison, The Wycliffe Bible Commentary, Moody Press, Chicago, 1976, p. 1461).

THE SURE WAY TO HEAVEN

welcome

**********************************************************

Q.What is the way to heaven?

Q. How did St. Paul explained the Way to heaven?

Q. How should we come to God to enter His Kingdom?

Q. What is the will of the Father for everyone concerning Jesus?

**********************************************************

Q. What is the way to Heaven?

A. Jesus said that He is the Way!

Jesus said, " And you know where I am going and how to get there." "No, we don't," Thomas said. "We haven't any idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

Jesus told him, "I AM THE WAY - yes, and the Truth, and the Life. NO ONE CAN GET TO THE FATHER EXCEPT BY MEANS OF ME." - John 14: 4-6 LB

**********************************************************

Q. How did St. Paul explained the Way to Heaven?

A. He explained that it is not by being good enough or by trying to keep God's Law but by coming to Jesus and trusting Him to take away our sins.

"But now GOD HAS SHOWN US A DIFFERENT WAY TO HEA VEN - NOT BY "BEING GOOD ENOUGH" AND TRYING TO KEEP HIS LAW, BUT BY A NEW WAY (though not new, really, for the Scriptures told about it long ago).

Now GOD SAYS HE WILL ACCEPT AND ACQUIT US - DECLARE US "NOT GUILTY" - IF WE TRUST JESUS TO TAKE A WAY OUR SINS. AND WE ALL CAN BE SAVED IN THE SAME WAY, BY COMING TO CHRIST, no matter who we are or what we have been like." - Romans 3: 21-22 LB

**********************************************************

Q. How should we come to God to enter His Kingdom ?

A. We should come to God as a little child, that is, be as trusting as a child and having his kind of faith to enter His Kingdom.

"One day, some mothers brought their babies to him to touch and bless. But the disciples told them to go away. Then Jesus called the children over to him and said to the disciples, "Let the little children come to me! Never send them away! FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD BELONGS TO MEN WHO HAVE HEARTS AS TRUSTING AS THESE LITTLE CHILDREN'S. AND ANYONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE THEIR KIND OF FAITH WILL NEVER GET WITHIN THE KINGDOM'S GATES. " - Luke 18: 15-17 LB

**********************************************************

Q. What is the will of the Father for everyone concerning Jesus?

A. His will is that everyone who believes in His Son shall have eternal life.

Then Jesus declared, "I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me will never go hungry , and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All that the Father gives me will come to me, and who- ever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them at the last day. FOR MY FATHER'S WILL IS THAT EVERYONE WHO LOOKS TO THE SON AND BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE, AND I WILL RAISE HIM UP AT THE LAST DAY." - John 6: 29, 35-40 NIV

"For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that ANYONE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL not perish but HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. God did not send his Son to condemn it, but to.save it." - John 3: 16-17 LB

THE PRESCRIPTION OF FAITH

welcome

**********************************************************

Q. How does the Bible define faith?

Q. What is SIN?

Q. What is God's law?

Q. What is the punishment of sin?

Q. How can we be saved from the punishment of our sins?

Q. What will happen to those who do not believe in Jesus?

Q. What more do we need to do to be saved from the punishment of our sins?

Q. Why is faith in Christ sufficient?

**********************************************************

Q. How does the Bible define faith?

A. It is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (The noun, FAITH, corresponds to the verbs, BELIEVE and TRUST. They all mean the same.)

FAITH IS BEING SURE OF WHAT WE HOPE FOR AND CERTAIN OF WHAT WE DO NOT SEE. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. - Hebrews 11: 1-3 NIV

Explanatory Note: Webster's New World Dictionary defines faith as: (1). unquestionable belief that does not require proof or evidence (2). unquestioning belief in God. (3). complete , confidence, or reliance (Second College Edition by William Collins + World Publishing Co., Inc. 1976).

"Central to the New Testament is the thought that God sent His Son to be the Saviour of the world. Christ accomplished man's salvation by dying an atoning death on Calvary's cross. Faith is the attitude whereby a man abandons all reliance in his own efforts to obtain salvation, be they deeds of piety, of ethical goodness, or anything else. It is the attitude of complete trust in Christ, of reliance on Him alone for all that salvation means.

When the Philippian jailer asked; 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved? " Paul and Silas answered without hesitation, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved' (Acts 16: 30f). It is 'whosoever believeth in him' that does not perish, but has everlasting life (John3: 16). Faith is the one way by which men receive salvation." (J. D. Douglas, The New Bible Dictionary, Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co., Grand Rapids, Michigan, 1962, p. 411)

"The main elements in faith in its relation to the invisible God, as distinct from faith in man, are especially brought out in the use of this noun and the corresponding verb, pisteuo; they are (1) a firm conviction, producing a full acknowledgement of God's revelation or truth, e.g., 2 Thessalonians 2: 11, 12,. (2) a personal surrender to Him, John 1: 12 (But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust him to save them LB); (3) a conduct inspired by such surrender, 2 Corinthians 5: 7 (We live by faith, not by sight. NIV). (Vines Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, p. 411 ).

"But in reality .true faith and true repentance are not separate or to be distinguished too rigidly from each other. Faith is fundamental. Repentance implies faith. Faith is not real saving faith unless it includes repentance. (Repentance will be dealt with more extensively later) Saving faith may therefore be properly defmed, for those who have the light of the Gospel, as such belief in the Lord Jesus Christ as leads one to submit completely to the authority of Christ, and to put complete and exclusive trust in him for salvation. (Merrill F. Unger, Unger's Bible Dictionary, Moody Press, Chicago 1977, p. 341).

**********************************************************

Q. What is SIN?

A. Sin is breaking God's law.

"Whoever sins is guilty of breaking God's law; for SIN IS A BREAKING OF THE LAW." - 1 John 3: 4 TEV

Explanatory Note: Sin is universal, "Yes, all have sinned; All fall short of God's glorious ideal; yet now God declares us 'not guilty' of offending him if we trust Jesus Christ, who in his kindness freely takes away our sins" - Romans 3: 23-24 LB

**********************************************************

Q. What is God's law?

A. God's law is love.

"Pay all your debts except the debt of love for others - never finish paying that! For if you love them, you will be obeying all of God 's laws, fulfilling all his requirements. If you love your neighbor as much as.you love yourself you will not want to harm or cheat him, or kill him or steal from him. And you won't sin with his wife or want what is his, or do anything else the Ten Commandments say is wrong.

ALL TEN ARE WRAPPED UP IN THIS ONE, TO LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF. Love does no wrong to anyone. THAT'S WHY IT FULLY SATISFIES ALL OF GOD'S REQUIREMENTS. IT IS THE ONLY LAW YOU NEED." - Romans 13: 8-1 OLB

Jesus replied, "LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, SOUL, AND MIND." This is the fIrst and greatest commandment. The second most important is similar: "LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS MUCH AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF." All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets stem from these two laws, and are fulfilled if you obey them. KEEP ONLY THESE AND YOU WILL FIND THAT YOU ARE OBEYING ALL THE OTHERS." - Matthew 22: 37-40 LB

Explanatory Note: It should be pointed out here that God's laws are written within all men and therefore no one can claim ignorance of His laws to escape responsibility.

"He will punish sin wherever it is found. He will punish the heathen when they sin, even though they never had God's written laws, for down in their hearts they know right from wrong. God's laws are written within them; their own conscience accuses them, or sometimes excuses them. And God will punish the Jews for sinning because they have his written laws but don't obey them. They know what is right but don't do it. After all salvation is not given to those who know what to do, unless they do it. The day will surely come when at God's command Jesus Christ will judge the secret lives of everyone, their inmost thoughts and motives; this is all part of God's great plan which I proclaim." - Romans 2: 12-15 LB

**********************************************************

Q. What is the punishment of sin?

A. The punishment of sin is death.

"For THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6: 23 LB

Explanatory Note: "I, THANATOS (Greek word for) death, is used in Scripture of: (a) the separation of the soul (the spiritual part of man) from the body (the material part), the latter ceasing to function and turning to dust, e. g. John 11: 13 (the death of Lazarus) ... and

(b) the separation of man from God. Adam died on the day he disobeyed God, Genesis 2: 17 (But you must not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.}, and hence all mankind are born in the same spiritual condition, Romans 5: 12 (Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned}, from which, however, those who believe in Christ are delivered, (John 5: 24: "I say emphatically that anyone who listens to my message and believes in God who sent me has eternal life, and will never be damned for his sins. but has already passed out of death into life."}.

Death is the opposite of life; it never denotes non-existence. As spiritual life is "conscious existence in communion with God," so spiritual death is "conscious existence in separation from God."

"Death, in whichever of the above-mentioned senses it is used, is always, in Scripture, viewed as the penal consequence of sin, and since sinners alone are subject to death, Romans 5:12, it was as the Bearer of sin that the Lord Jesus submitted thereto on the Cross, 1 Peter 2: 24 (He personally carried the load of our sins in his own body when he died on the cross, so that we can be finished with sin and live a good life from now on. For his wounds have healed ours! LB). And while the physical death of the Lord Jesus was of the essence of His sacrifice, it was not the whole.

The darkness symbolized, and His cry expressed, the fact that He was left alone in the Universe, He was "forsaken;" cp. Matthew 27: 45, 46" (W. E. Vine, Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, MacDonald Publishing Company, McLean, Virginia, n.d. p. 278). He was separated from the Father.

**********************************************************

Q. How can we be saved from the punishment of our sins?

A. We can be saved from the punishment of our sins by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

They replied, "BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS, AND YOU WILL BE SAVED." - Acts 16: 29-31 LB

Explanatory Note: "Believe" in Greek is PISTEUO, to believe, also to be persuaded of, and hence, to place confidence in, to trust, signifies, in this sense of the word, reliance upon, not mere credence. (Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, p. 118)

We have noted above when we cited Romans 3: 21-22 LB that "God says he will accept and acquit us - declare us 'not guilty' - if we trust Jesus to take away our sins. And we an can be saved in the same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like."

**********************************************************

Q. What will happen to those who do not believe in Jesus?

A. Those who do not believe in Jesus are condemned. They shall never see Heaven.

Jesus said, "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it."

"There is not eternal doom awaiting those who trust him to save them. But THOSE WHO DON'T TRUST HIM HAVE ALREADY BEEN TRIED AND CONDEMNED FOR NOT BELIEVING IN THE ONLY SON OF GOD. Their sentence is based on this fact: that the Light from heaven came into the world, but they loved the darkness more than the Light, for their deeds were evil. They hated the heavenly Light because they wanted to sin in darkness. They stayed away from that Light for fear their sins would be exposed and they would be punished. But those doing right come gladly to the Light to let everyone see that they are doing what God wants them to." - John 3: 16-21 LB

"And all who trust him - God's Son - to save them have eternal life: THOSE WHO DON'T BELIEVE AND OBEY HIM SHALL NEVER SEE HEAVEN, but the wrath of God remains upon them. " - John 3: 36 LB

**********************************************************

Q. What more do we need to do to be saved from the punishment of our sins?

A. Nothing more! It is by God's grace that we are saved through our faith in Jesus Christ. It is not by anything we do because it is a gift from God. It is not by our works otherwise we could boast that it is by our works that we have been saved.

"FOR IT IS BY GRACE YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED THROUGH FAITH - and this is not from yourselves, IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD - NOT OF WORKS, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship created in Christ to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." - Ephesians 2: 8-10 NIV

**********************************************************

Q. Why is faith in Christ sufficient?

A. God sent His Son Jesus to take the punishment for our sins. Our acquittal is based on what Jesus has done and our faith in Him. We are saved by faith in Christ.

FOR GOD SENT CHRIST JESUS TO TAKE THE PUNISHMENT FOR OUR SINS and to end all of God's anger against us. HE USED CHRIST'S BLOOD AND OUR FAITH AS THE MEANS OF SAVING US FROM HIS WRATH ... Then what can we boast about doing, to earn our salvation?

Nothing at all. Why? Because OUR ACQUITTAL IS NOT BASED ON OUR GOOD DEEDS. IT IS BASED ON WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE AND OUR FAITH IN HIM. So it is that WE ARE SAVED BY FAITH IN CHIRST and NOT BY THE GOOD THINGS WE DO. - Romans 3: 25, 27-28 LB

**********************************************************

WORKS AS A RESULT OF FAITH

welcome

**********************************************************

Q. What did St. Paul mean when he wrote the Philippians "to work out your salvation"?

Q. Is there a conflict between faith and works?

**********************************************************

Q. What did St. Paul mean when he wrote the Philippians "to work out your salvation"?

A. What he meant was "to do the good things that result from being saved." (Living Bible rendition of the phrase in question found in Philippians 2: 12 ).

"Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed - not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence - continue TO WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." - Philippians 2: 12-13 NIV

Explanatory Note: St. Paul says "work out" not work for "your salvation." We work for our wages that we do not still have in order to earn a living. As far as St. Paul was concerned, we do not have to work for our salvation since "it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no man can boast" {Ephesians 2: 8-9 NI V), as he pointed out to the Ephesians. He likewise wrote Titus that "when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy" {Titus 3: 4-5 NIV).

St. Paul could not possibly contradict himself when he wrote the Philippians "to continue to work out your salvation" because what is meant by this passage is "to do the good things that result from being saved" {Philippians 2: 12 LB). Evidently, the Philippians he wrote to were already saved as can be clearly seen in verses 1 and 2 of the same Chapter 2:

"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose."

There is however a place for "works" as indicated above in verse 10 of Ephesians Chapter 2: "We are God's workmanship created in Christ to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." This is in line with what he said to the Philippians "to continue to work out your salvation " or in other words, "do the .qood things that result from being saved."

**********************************************************

Q. Is there a conflict between faith and works?

A. There is no conflict between faith and works whatsoever. Faith should result in good works otherwise it is dead or not real faith. Good works result from being saved. We are saved by our faith in Christ, not by our works.

So you see, it isn't enough just to have faith. You must also do good to prove that you have it. FAITH THAT DOESN'T SHOW ITSELF BY GOOD WORKS IS NO FAITH AT ALL - IT IS DEAD AND USELESS.

But someone may well argue, "You say the way to God is by faith alone, plus nothing; well I say that good works are important too, for WITHOUT GOOD WORKS YOU CAN'T PROVE WHETHER YOU HAVE FAITH OR NOT; but anyone can see that I have faith by the way I act.."

. FAITH THAT DOES NOT RESULT IN GOOD DEEDS IS NOT REAL FAITH ... Just as a body is dead when there is no spirit in it, SO FAITH IS DEAD IF IT IS NOT THE KIND THAT RESULT IN GOOD DEEDS. - James 2: 17,18, 2Ob, 26 LB

Explanatory Note: James pointed out that "Faith that does not result in good deeds is not real faith" (James 2: 20b LB). Thus, he maintained that "a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone" (James 2: 24 NIV) because ''as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead" (James 2: 26 NI V).

Good works must accompany faith if it is real faith. "Works" is the evidence of "faith," "the good things that result from being saved" (Philippians 2: 12 LB). It is the outcome of being a Christian indeed for St. Paul admonishes one to "be even more careful to do the good things that result from being saved" (Philippians 2: 12 LB). This is apparently what is meant by the passage "to work out your salvatlonII In Philippians 2. 12.

Appearing in the October 8 issue of the Philippines Daily Express is an article by George W. Cornell entitled "US Catholic, Lutheran Theologians Reach Accord" pertinent portions of which are hereunder quoted:

NEW YORK - Catholic and Lutheran theologians this week issued a historic declaration of convergence on a basic doctrine that divided them 462 years ago, agreeing that salvation comes "only through faith" in God's mercy, and not by human "good works." But they also concurred that "good works" are a necessary result of the process.

Its 21,OOO-word report, a result of five years' work, affirms agreement that "ultimate hope and trust for salvation are to be placed in the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, and not in our own goodness, even when this is God-given."

The document was released by the Rev. H. George Anderson, president of Luther College in Iowa, Lutheran co-chairman of the 20-member dialogue team, and Auxiliary Bishop T. Austin Murphy of Baltimore, the Catholic co-chairman.

However, the report adds that "justifying faith cannot exist without hope and love; It necessarily issues in good works.

"Yet the justified cannot rely on their own good works or boast of their own merits as though they were not still in need of mercy.. .the eternal reward promised to the righteous as a gift, for it depends wholly on God's grace in Christ, the one mediator between God and fallen humanity. " (AP)

HOW TO BE BORN AGAIN

welcome

**********************************************************

Q. How can we enter Heaven?

Q. How can we have this new life from Heaven?

Q. Who can have this new life from the Spirit?

Q. How can we know that we are born again?

Q. Is there any other way to know that we are born again ?

**********************************************************

Q. How can we enter Heaven?

A. We can enter Heaven by being born again, that is, born of the Spirit

Jesus replied, "With all earnestness I possess I tell you this: UNLESS YOU ARE BORN AGAIN, YOU CANNOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD." "Born again!" exclaimed Nicodemus. "What do you mean? How can an old man go back into his mother's womb and be born again?"

Jesus replied, "WHAT I AM TELLING YOU SO EARNESTLY IS THIS: UNLESS ONE IS BORN OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT, HE CANNOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Men can only reproduce human life, but THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVES LIFE FROM HEAVEN; so don't be surprised at my statement that you must be born again! Just as you can hear the wind can't tell where it comes from or where it will go next, so it is with the Spirit. We donot know on whom he will next bestow this life from heaven. " - John 3: 3-8 LB

**********************************************************

Q. How can we have this new life from Heaven?

A. It is the Holy Spirit that gives this new life, eternal life, and the true spiritual life.

Jesus said, "ONLY THE HOLY SPIRIT GIVES ETERNAL LIFE. Those born only once, with physical birth, will never receive this gift. But now I HAVE TOLD YOU HOW TO GET THIS TRUE SPIRITUAL LIFE. But some of you don't believe me." (For Jesus knew from the beginning who didn't believe and knew the one who would betray him.) - John 6: 63-64 LB

**********************************************************

Q. Who can have this new life from the Spirit?

A. All those who have faith in Jesus by receiving Him in to their lives experience this new life by becoming children of God being born of God. The Holy Spirit would be given to everyone believing in Him. God will put His own Holy Spirit into their hearts as a proof that they are living with Him and He with them..

"He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to ALL WHO RECEIVED HIM, TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN HIS NAME, HE GAVE THE RIGHT TO BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD - CHILDREN born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but BORN OF GOD." - John 1: 11-12 NIV

"On the last day, the climax of the holidays, Jesus shouted to the crowds, 'If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. For the Scriptures declare that rivers of living water shall flow from the inmost being of anyone who believes in me.'

(He was speaking of THE HOLY SPIRIT, who WOULD BE GIVEN TO EVERYONE BELIEVING IN HIM; but the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet returned to his glory in heaven.) " - John 7: 37-38 LB

"For though we have never yet seen God, when we love each other God lives in us and his love within us grows ever stronger. AND HE HAS PUT HIS OWN HOLY SPIRIT INTO OUR HEARTS AS A PROOF TO US THA T WE ARE LIVING WITH HIM AND HE WITH US." - 1 John 4: 12-13 LB

Explanatory Note: Genuine faith brings about a new life by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The change of life is noticeable, gradual, or rapid (dramatic). As pointed out above, this kind of faith results in good works.

Consider the following tests of faith and works:

**********************************************************

Q. How can we know that we are born again?

A. Those who have been born again have received the Holy Spirit and He lives within them, in their hearts. Those who have been born into God's family do not make a practice of sinning and can't keep on sinning for this new life has been born into them and controls them.

"But YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT AND HE LIVES WITHIN YOU, IN YOUR HEARTS, so you don't need anyone to teach you what is right.. For he teaches you all things, and he is the Truth, and no liar; and so, just as he has said you must live in Christ, never to depart from him." - I John 2: 27 LB

"THE PERSON WHO HAS BEEN BORN INTO GOD'S FAMILY DOES NOT MAKE A PRACTICE OF SINNING, BECAUSE NOW GOD'S LIFE IS IN HIM: SO HE CAN'T KEEP ON SINNING, FOR THIS NEW LIFE HAS BEEN BORN INTO HIM AND CONTROLS HIM - HE HAS BEEN BORN AGAIN.

So now we can tell who is a child of God and who belongs to Satan. Whoever is living a life of sin and doesn't love his brother shows that he is not in God's family; for the message to us from the beginning has been that we should love one another" - . 1 John 3: 9-11 LB

Explanatory Note: We have noted above in our consideration of the definition of Faith that "Repentance implies faith. Faith is not real saving faith unless it includes repentance."

As we shall see later, Jesus requires "repentance for the forgiveness of sins" (Luke 24: 47 NAS). The word repent "signifies to change one's mind or purpose, always, in the New Testament, involving a change for the better, an amendment, and always, except in Luke 17: 3, 4, of repentance from sin." "This change of mind involves both a turning from sin and a turning to God." (Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words, pp. 961-963)

We have likewise seen above that all those who have faith in Jesus by receiving Him into their lives are born into God's family. They become children of God, children born of God. Their faith necessarily includes repentance from sin, that is, a change of their minds and purpose, a change for the better. Their "change of mind" certainly involves a "turning from their sin and a turning to God" if their faith is real.

Thus, those who have been born again do "not make a practice of sinning" as they have already turned from sin and turned to God who is now in their lives controlling them by keeping them from sinning. There is a change in their lives. Their pattern of behavior of constantly sinning is thus broken and the general rule of sinning now becomes more of an exception. They are not, however, sinless but sin less because of the controlling and restraining power of the Holy Spirit. The reason for this is found in the following:

"Of course not! Should we keep on sinning when we don't have to? For sin's power over us was broken when we became Christians and were baptized to become a part of Jesus Christ; through his death the power of your sinful nature was shattered." - Romans 6: 2,3 LB

"So now we can obey God's laws if we follow after the Holy Spirit and no longer obey the old evil nature within us." - Romans 8: 4 LB

**********************************************************

Q. Is there any other way to know that we are born again?

A. The Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts, and tells us that we are God's children.

"And so we should not be like cringing, fearful slaves, but we should behave like God's very own children, adopted into the bossom of his family, and calling to him, "Father, Father." FOR HIS HOLY SPIRIT SPEAKS TO US DEEP IN OUR HEARTS, AND TELLS US THAT WE ARE GOD'S CHILDREN. And since we are his children, we will share his treasures - for all God gives to his Son Jesus is now ours, too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering." - Romans 8: 15-17 LB

Explanatory Note: There is another way of knowing that we are born again. It is the Holy Spirit who bears witness with our very own self, our human spirit, that we are children of God.

Thus, we have the verifiable demonstration that we are born again, that we are children of God with a new life, externally when we do not "make a practice of sinning" or do not "keep on sinning" (committing sin now becomes an exception rather than the general pattern of conduct as it was before), and internally when the "Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts, and tells us that we are God's children."

It is these outward manifestations of changed lives and inward assurances of the Holy Spirit that give us complete confidence of the forgiveness of our sins and the boldness to declare before the whole world that we are born again.

HOW TO BE CERTAIN OF BEING A CHRISTIAN

welcome

**********************************************************

Q. Who is a Christian according to the Bible?

Q. How can we be sure that we are Christians?

**********************************************************

Q. Who is a Christian according to the Bible?

A. Anyone who has the Spirit of God living in him is a Christian.

"But you are not like that. You are controlled by your new nature if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And REMEMBER THAT IF ANYONE DOESN'T HAVE THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST LIVING IN HIM, HE IS NOT A CHRISTIAN AT ALL.)" - Romans 8: 9 LB

**********************************************************

Q. How can we be sure that we are Christians?

A. We can be sure that we are Christians by looking within ourselves and asking whether or not we are really trying to do what Christ wants us to do. If we are doing what Christ tells us to do, we learn to love God more and more. We should be living as Christ did if we are Christians indeed. And when we are living as Christ did, we feel His presence and power more and more within ourselves.

AND HOW CAN WE BE SURE THAT WE BELONG TO HIM? BY LOOKING WITHIN OURSELVES. ARE WE REALLY TRYING TO DO WHAT HE WANTS US TO?

Someone may say, "I am a Christian. I am on my way to Heaven: I belong to Christ." But if he doesn't do what Christ tells him to, he is a liar. But THOSE WHO DO WHAT CHRIST TELLS THEM TO WILL LEARN TO LOVE GOD MORE AND MORE. THAT IS THE WAY TO KNOW WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE A CHRISTIAN. ANYONE WHO SAYS HE IS A CHRISTIAN SHOULD LIVE AS CHRIST DID. - 1 John 2: 3-6 LB

Check up on yourselves. Are you really Christians? Do you pass the test? DO YOU FEEL CHRIST'S PRESENCE AND POWER MORE AND MORE WITHIN YOU? Or are you just pretending to be Christians when actually you aren't at all? I hope you can agree that I have stood that test and truly belong to the Lord. - 2 Corinthians 13: 5-6 LB

HOW TO BE SURE OF GOING TO HEAVEN

welcome

**********************************************************

Q. What is the guarantee of Christians that they belong to Christ?

Q. How can we be absolutely sure of going to Heaven?

**********************************************************

Q. What is the guarantee of Christians that they belong to Christ?

A. God has put his brand of ownership on Christians and given them His Holy Spirit as a guarantee that they belong to Him..

"HE HAS PUT HIS BRAND UPON US - HIS MARK OF OWNERSHIP - AND GIVEN US HIS HOLY SPIRIT IN OUR HEARTS AS GUARANTEE THAT WE BELONG TO HIM, and as the first installment of all that he is going to give us." - 2 Corinthians 1: 22 LB

**********************************************************

Q. How can we be absolutely sure of going to Heaven?

A. God has given His Holy Spirit as a guarantee so that we can be absolutely sure of going to Heaven.

The Holy Spirit's presence within us is God's guarantee that He really will give us all that He promised. The Holy Spirit's seal upon us (that is, we were marked as belonging to Christ by the Holy Spirit) means that God has already purchased us and that He guarantees to bring us to Himself. .

"For we know that when this tent we live in now is taken down - when we die and leave these bodies -WE WILL HAVE WONDERFUL NEW BODIES IN HEAVEN, HOMES THAT WILL BE OURS FOREVERMORE, MADE BY GOD HIMSELF, and not by human hands. How weary we grow of our present bodies.

That is why we look forward eagerly to the day when we shall have heavenly bodies which we shall put on like new clothes. For we shall not be merely spirits without bodies. These earthly bodies make us groan and sigh, but we wouldn't like to think of dying and having no bodies at all. We want to slip into our new bodies so that these dying bodies will, as it were, be swallowed up by everlasting life. THIS IS WHAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR US AND, AS A GUARANTEE, HE HAS GIVEN US HIS HOLY SPIRIT." - 2 Corinthians 5: 1-5 LB

"And because of what Christ did, ALL YOU others too, WHO HEARD THE GOOD NEWS, ABOUT HOW TO BE SAVED, AND TRUSTED CHRIST, WERE MARKED AS BELONGING TO CHRIST BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, who long ago had been promised to all of us Christians.

HIS PRESENCE WITHIN US IS GOD'S GUARANTEE THAT HE REALLY WILL GIVE US ALL THAT HE PROMISED; AND THE SPIRIT'S SEAL UPON US MEANS THAT GOD HAS ALREADY PURCHASED US AND THAT HE GUARANTEES TO BRING US TO HIMSELF. This is just one more reason for us to praise our glorious God." - Ephesians 1: l.3-14 LB

THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROMISED RETURN OF JESUS

welcome

**********************************************************

Q. How will Jesus return to get Christians to be with Him forever in Heaven?

Q. What will happen to the bodies of the Christians who will be caught up in the air to meet the Lord?

**********************************************************

Q. How will Jesus return to get Christians to be with Him forever in Heaven?

A. The Lord himself will come down from Heaven and the Christians who are dead will be the first to rise from their graves to meet the Lord. Those who are still alive will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with Him forever in Heaven.

"I can tell you this directly from the Lord: that we who are still living when the Lord returns will not rise to meet him ahead of those who are in their graves. FOR THE LORD HIMSELF WILL COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN with a mighty shout and with the soul stirring cry of the archangel and the great trumpet call of God. AND THE BELIEVERS WHO ARE DEAD WILL BE THE FIRST TO RISE TO MEET THE LORD. THEN WE WHO ARE STILL ALIVE AND REMAIN ON THE EARTH WILL BE CAUGHT UP WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR AND REMAIN WITH HIM FOREVER." - 1 Thessalonians 4: 15-17 NIV

**********************************************************

Q. What will happen to the bodies of the Christians who will be caught up in the air to meet the Lord?

A. They will be given new bodies that will never die. They will be transformed into heavenly bodies that cannot perish but live forever.

"I tell you this, my brothers: an earthly body made of flesh and blood cannot get into God's kingdom. These perishable bodies of ours are not the right kind to live forever. But I am telling you this strange and wonderful secret: WE SHALL NOT ALL DIE, BUT WE SHALL ALL BE GIVEN NEW BODIES! It will all happen in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown. For there will be a trumpet blast from the sky and ALL THE CHRISTIANS WHO HAVE DIED WILL SUDDENLY BECOME ALIVE, WITH NEW BODIES THAT WILL NEVER, NEVER DIE: AND THEN WE WHO ARE STILL ALIVE SHALL SUDDENLY HAVE NEW BODIES TOO. FOR OUR EARTHLY BODIES, THE ONES WE HAVE NOW THAT CAN DIE, MUST BE TRANSFORMED INTO HEAVENLY BODIES THAT CANNOT PERISH BUT LIVE FOREVER." - 1 Corinthians 15: 50-53 LB

THE DESTINY OF THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN CHRIST

welcome

**********************************************************

Q. What is the Lake of Fire?

Q. Who will be thrown into the Lake of Fire with Satan?

Q. How will those who do not believe in Jesus be judged?

**********************************************************

Q. What is the Lake of Fire?

A. It is a place burning with sulphur where Satan and all his followers will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

"When the thousand years end, Satan will be let out of his prison. He will go out to deceive the nations of the world and gather them together, with Gog and Magog, for battle - a mighty host, numberless as sand along the shore. They will go up across the broad plain of the earth and surround God's and the beloved city of Jerusalem on every side. But fire from God in heaven will flash down on the attacking armies and consume them.

Then THE DEVIL WHO HAD BETRAYED THEM WILL AGAIN BE THROWN INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE BURNING WITH SULPHUR WHERE THE CREATURE AND FALSE PROPHET ARE, AND THEY WILL BE TORMENTED DAY AND NIGHT FOREVER AND EVER." - Revelation 20: 7-10 LB

**********************************************************

Q. Who will be thrown into the Lake of Fire with Satan?

A. All those who are cowardly (who turn back from following Christ), those who are unbelieving, vile (corrupt), murderers, sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, idolaters, and all liars will have their place in the Lake of Fire.

Jesus said, "But THE COWARDLY, THE UNBELIEVING, THE VILE, THE MURDERERS, THE SEXUALLY IMMORAL, THOSE WHO PRACTICE MAGIC ARTS, THE IDOLATERS AND ALL LIARS - THEIR PLACE WILL BE IN THE FIERY LAKE OF BURNING SULFUR. This is the second death." - Revelations 21: 8 NIV

**********************************************************

Q. How will those who do not believe in Jesus be judged?

A. They will all be judged according to the things written in the Books, each according to the deeds he had done. If anyone's name was not found recorded in the Book of Life, he was thrown into the Lake of Fire.

"And I saw a great white throne and the one who sat upon it from whose face the earth and sky fled away, but they found no place to hide. I saw THE DEAD, GREAT AND SMALL, STANDING BEFORE GOD; AND THE BOOKS WERE OPENED, INCLUDING THE BOOK OF LIFE. AND THE DEAD WERE JUDGED ACCORDING TO THE THINGS WRITfEN IN THE BOOKS, EACH ACCORDING TO THE DEEDS HE HAD DONE.

The oceans surrendered the bodies buried in them; and the earth and the underworld gave up the dead in them. EACH WAS JUDGED ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS. And death and Hell were thrown into the Lake of Fire. AND IF ANYONE'S NAME WAS NOT FOUND RECORDED IN THE BOOK OF LIFE, HE WAS THROWN INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE." - Revelation 20: 7-15 LB

Explanatory Note: Those who believed by receiving Jesus in their lives having repented, confessed, and forsaken their sins, have all of their sins forgiven and cleansed by His blood (1 John 1: 9). Consequently all their SINS "written in The Books" are blotted out:

"He has removed our sins as far away from us as the east is from the west." - Psalm 103: 12 LB

"I, yes, I alone am he who blots away your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again." - Isaiah 43: 25 LB

"I've blotted out your sins; they are gone like the morning mist at noon! Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price to set you free." - Isaiah 44: 22 LB

"And their "names are written in the Book of Life." - Philippians 4: 3b LB

HOW TO RECEIVE JESUS INTO YOUR LIFE

welcome

**********************************************************

Q. Why is it necessary to receive Jesus Christ into our lives?

Q. When will those who believe by receiving Jesus into their lives have eternal life?

Q. How can we receive Jesus into our lives?

Q. What should we do about our sins?

Q. What should we do about our wicked way of life and evil thoughts?

Q. How can we have cleansing from our sins?

Q. Would you want to receive Jesus into your life and be absolutely sure of going to Heaven?

**********************************************************

Q. Why is it necessary to receive Jesus Christ into our lives?

A. God has given us eternal life and this life is in Jesus. When we receive Jesus into our lives, we have eternal life.

"And what is it that God has said? That HE HAS GIVEN US ETERNAL LIFE, AND THAT THIS LIFE IS IN HIS SON. SO WHOEVER HAS GOD'S SON HAS LIFE; whoever does not have his Son, does not have life." - 1 John 5: 11-12 LB

**********************************************************

Q. When will those who believe by receiving Jesus into their lives have eternal life?

A. As soon as they believe by receiving Jesus into their lives, they immediately have eternal life.

Jesus said, "How earnestly I tell you this - ANYONE WHO BELIEVES IN ME ALREADY HAS ETERNAL LIFE!" - John 6: 47 LB

Explanatory Note: We have noted above that "the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6: 23 LB).

Death results in (1) the separation of the soul from the body, which is physical death, and (2) the separation of man from God, which is spiritual death, the "conscious existence in separation from God" (Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words). Spiritual life is "conscious existence in communion with God."

Once, therefore, we believe in Jesus by receiving Him into our lives, we cease to be separated from God and we have spiritual life. We "become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God" (John 1: 12 LB), as we are "united with Christ" (Philippians 2:1 NIV).

When we have God's Son we have eternal life (1 John 5: 12).

"The free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6: 23 LB).

It is this precise moment when we receive Christ into our lives that we become Christians. "Remember that if anyone doesn't have the Spirit of Christ living in him, he is not a Christian at all." (Romans 8: 9 LB).

God has "given us his Holy Spirit in our hearts as guarantee that we belong to him" (2 Corinthians 1.22 LB).

We "have received the Holy Spirit and he lives within" us (1 John 2: 27 LB).

When we become Christians, that is when we receive Christ into our lives, we have a new life. "When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same any more. A new life has begun!" (2 Corinthians 5: 17 LB).

Jesus said, "Only the Holy Spirit gives eternal life. Those born only once, with physical birth, will never receive this gift. But now I have told you how to get this true spiritual life. But some of you don't believe me" (John 6: 63-64 LB)

**********************************************************

Q. How can we receive Jesus into our lives?

A. Jesus is standing at the door of our lives and is constantly knocking. If we open the door of our lives He will come in.

Jesus said, "Look! I HAVE BEEN STANDING AT THE DOOR AND I AM CONSTANTLY KNOCKING. IF ANYONE HEARS ME CALLING HIM AND OPENS THE DOOR, I WILL COME IN and fellowship with him and he with me." - Revelation 3: 20 LB

**********************************************************

Q. What should we do about our sins?

A. We should repent of all our sins by turning from them and turning to God. Only then can we have forgiveness of our sins

From then on, Jesus began to preach, "TURN FROM SIN, AND TURN TO GOD, FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NEAR." - Matthew 4: 17 LB

Jesus said, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day; and that REPENTANCE FOR FORGIVENESS OF SINS SHOULD BE PROCLAIMED IN HIS NAME TO ALL NATIONS, beginning from Jerusalem." - Luke 24: 46-47 NAS

**********************************************************

Q. What should we do about our wicked way of life and evil thoughts?

A. We should forsake our wicked way of life and evil thoughts. We should turn to the Lord and follow His higher ways and thoughts.

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

LET THE WICKED FORSAKE HIS WAY AND THE EVIL MAN HIS THOUGHTS.

LET HIM TURN TO THE LORD, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

"For my thoughts are not. your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, SO ARE MY WAYS HIGHER THAN YOUR WAYS AND MY THOUGHTS THAN YOUR THOUGHTS." - Isaiah 55: 6-9 NIV

Explanatory Note: There is a need to forsake and leave our old sinful way of life and turn to God and follow His ways and thoughts that are higher than ours. Jesus emphasized this when he confronted sinners.

Jesus told the man who had been sick for thirty eight years after he was healed at Bethesda Pool "Now you are wlll; don't sin as you did before, or something even worse may happen to you" (John 5: 14 LB)

Jesus likewise told the woman caught in adultery and brought before Him by the Jewish leaders and Pharisees, in this wise:

"Teacher, " they said to Jesus, "this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. Moses' law says to kill her. What about it?"

They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept on demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, "All right, hurl the stones at her until she dies. But only he who never sinned may throw the first!"

Then he stooped down again and wrote some more in the dust. And the Jewish leaders slipped away one by one, beginning with the eldest, until only Jesus was left in front of the crowd with the woman.

Then Jesus stood up again and said to her, "Where are your accusers? Didn't even one of them condemn you?"

"No, sir," she said.

And Jesus said, "Neither do I. Go and sin no more" (John 8: 3-11 LB). Thus Jesus warned, "And don't you realize that you also will perish unless you leave your evil ways and turn to God? " (Luke 13: 3 LB)

**********************************************************

Q. How can we have cleansing from our sins?

A. We can have cleansing from all our sins by confessing our sins to God. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin

"And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and THE BLOOD OF JESUS HIS SON CLEANSES US FROM ALL SIN.

If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL AND RIGHTEOUS TO FORGIVE US OUR SINS AND TO CLEANSE US FROM ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us." - 1 John 1: 5-10 NAS

**********************************************************

Q. Would you want to receive Jesus into your life and be absolutely sure of going to Heaven?

A. If you do, here's a simple prayer to receive Jesus into your life or you may express the prayer in your own words. The humble and repentant attitude of your heart is more important.

"So give yourselves humbly to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and let your hearts be filled with God alone to make them pure and true to him. Let there be tears for the wrong you have done. Let there be sorrow and sincere grief. Let there be sadness insiead of laughter, and gloom instead ofjoy. Then when you realize your worthlessness before the Lord, he will lift you up, encourage and help you" (JAMES 4: 7-10 LB)

"Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner. I confess all my sins to you; I repent of all my sins. I forsake and turn away from them. I am very sorry, please forgive me for all my sins. I receive you into my life as my Savior. Be the Lord and Master of my life from now on. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen "

HOW TO CONTINUE TO LIVE IN JESUS

welcome

**********************************************************

Q. What should we do after receiving Jesus into our lives?

Q. How should we live our lives after we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?

Q. Where should we set our sights?

**********************************************************

Q. What should we do after receiving Jesus into our lives?

A. We should continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him by reading and meditating upon His Word daily, and strengthen our faith by means of the teachings from the Word of God.

"So then, JUST AS YOU RECEIVED CHRIST JESUS AS LORD, CONTINUE TO LIVE IN HIM, ROOTED AND BUlLT UP IN HIM, STRENGTHENED IN THE FAITH AS YOU WERE TAUGHT, and overflowing with thankfulness." - Colossians 2: 6, 7 LB

Explanatory Note: God's Word is essential for the new born believers in Christ for them to grow into full grown Christians. Jesus said, "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4: 4 NIV).

"Like newborn babes, long for the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow in respect to salvation" (1 Peter 2.2 NAS). Christians need to be well grounded in the very first principles in God's Word and move on to understand the deeper things of God's Word:

You have been Christians a long time now and you ought to be teaching others, but instead you have dropped back to the place where you need someone to teach you allover again the very first principles in God's Word.

You are like babies who can drink only milk, not old enough for solid food. And when a person is still living on milk it shows he isn't very far along in the Christian life, and doesn't know much about the difference between right and wrong. He is still a baby-Christian! You will never be able to eat solid spiritual food and understand the deeper things of God's Word until you become better Christians and learn right from wrong by practicing doing right. - Hebrews 5: 11-14 LB

The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what .is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God's way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone. - 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 LB

**********************************************************

Q. How should we live our lives after we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior?

A. We should spend our time living to please Christ and no longer ourselves.

"We believe that Christ died for all of us, WE SHOULD ALSO BELIEVE THAT WE HAVE DIED TO THE OLD LIFE WE USED TO LIVE. He died for all so that ALL WHO LIVE - HAVING RECEIVED ETERNAL LIFE FROM HIM - MIGHT LIVE NO LONGER FOR THEMSELVES, TO PLEASE THEMSELVES, BUT TO SPEND THEIR LIVES PLEASING CHRIST who died and rose again for them." - 2 Corinthians 5: 14b - 15 LB

**********************************************************

Q. Where should we set our sights?

A. We should set our sights on things above, on the rich treasures and joys of Heaven. Let Heaven fill our thoughts for our real life is in Heaven with Christ and God.

"Since you became alive again, so to speak, when Christ arose from the dead, NOW SET YOUR SIGHTS ON THE RICH TREASURES AND JOYS OF HEAVEN WHERE HE' SITS BESIDE GOD in the place of honor and power.

LET HEAVEN FILL YOUR THOUGHTS; don't spend your time worrying about things down here. You should have as little desires for this world as a dead person does. YOUR REAL LIFE IS IN HEAVEN WITH CHRIST AND GOD. And WHEN CHRIST WHO IS OUR REAL LIFE COMES BACK AGAIN, YOU WILL SHINE WITH HIM AND SHARE IN ALL HIS GLORIES." - Colossians 3: 1-4 LB

**********************************************************

CONCLUSION

It is exciting to look forward to being with Jesus Christ and enjoy eternal life in Heaven forever and ever!

I trust and pray that you dear friend-reader will commit your life to Jesus and receive Him into your life if you have not done so and Heaven will be yours as well. If you do, I will be eagerly looking forward to meet you in Heaven... because I am absolurely sure I will be there!
